As a registered representative of a broker dealer firm, I am opposed to the NARE request for exemption. Realtors are licensed to sell real estate, not securities. They do not have education or training in the compliance areas required of securities representatives.
Unless the SEC creates a separate license registration, any realtor wishing to receive compensation for the purchase of a security should be subject to the same rules, training requirements and continuing education as professionals in the securities business.
