As a private investor, I use leverage and inverse funds as an alternative to trading the futures market. It is simply easier, although if leveraged funds and inverse funds are no longer available, I could certainly execute the same trades in the futures markets. I do hope that things do not change. These funds have helped me with retirement savings over the years. I usually get in an out within a matter of weeks, and I really appreciate having the ability to do this without having to deal with futures, rollover dates and all the rest of it. And in terms of leverage, there is more leverage in the full SP contact than any leveraged fund I know of, so I would guess it is all a matter of perspective.
