I understand the thought process behind proposing new regulations for purchasing leveraged and inverse funds, however, I find the ability to utilize these funds as portfolio protection drastically outweighs the benefits of increased regulation. I strongly believe this proposal is bad for investors and is unnecessary. I believe most individual investors who are purchasing leveraged and inverse funds are capable of understanding these funds. I do not want a third-party evaluating their performance characteristics, my capability to do so, and/or potentially preventing me from buying them. I wish to preserve the long-standing free public markets where investors and their advisors have the freedom to buy public securities without additional government-imposed limitations on investor choice. In this specific instance, I am a firm believer in less government intervention. Thank you.
