Subject: Re: Uptick rule on short selling S7-08-08

July 29, 2008

Dear SEC,

Regarding the uptick rule that was removed in July 2007, I would like to comment that I strongly believe that it should be reinstated. Also, since the relatively recent establishment of Hedge Funds, I believe the SEC should be aggressively monitering and possibly regulating the practice of short selling. Remember, it was short selling and the stock market crash in 1929 that started the Great Depression.
Thank you for listening.

Sincerely,

Scott Bridgford
