Subject: Please protect shareholder rights (File No. S7-16-07)

Chairman Christopher Cox
Securities and Exchange Commission

Dear Chairman Cox:

The right of investors to file shareholder resolutions is effective in holding companies accountable for their actions. To eliminate this right is improper. Recent corporate scandals demonstrate the need for more corporate transparency. Shareholder resolutions allow investors to speak about the direction of their companies. Many crucial issues have been brought to light through the process of shareholder resolutions. I respectfully ask the commission to protect these rights.

Sincerely,
Daniel Hawley
