Securities over sight hasn't made varaiable annuities readily understandable by the average investor, just over whelmingly long and complicated prospecus.

While suitable dollars are key to using an index annuity well, SEC regulation won't insure this.

Adding a layer of regulation and control by a broker dealer will be anti-competitive and not properly address the concerns in this market place. Let the companies and state regulators who know this (evolving) product and market place address the issues at hand. The issues will change going forward and those who understand it best and have the most vested interest are the ones to watch it.
