I would like the SEC to regulate fixed annuities. As a CPA and Certified Financial Planner Professional, I am tired of meeting people who were sold these products as "no fee" which apparently is permissable under insurance regulations. There is no such thing as a free lunch and I think these sales are misleading and very deceptive. Sales prospects are also not told about "surrender charges", which are fees in the securities business. I think these products should be held to a higher standard for the benefit of the public. That would mean regulating them as securities.
