I am a securities and insurance rep who takes compliance and what I do very serious. I am 100% for making indexed annuities a security. I have attended some of the seminars that insurance reps hold and could not believe how they were presenting indexed annuities.
I sell indexed annuities as an alternative to CD's. I talk about all the positives and negatives associated with the products.

Also I have to go through strict compliance to get everything I do approved and insurance representatives have no one looking over them to see how they are advertising or selling this product. The department of insurance in the states are a joke as far as compliance goes. I believe these reps should have to get a series 6 and 63 or whatever else you chose and be subject to the same compliance as security reps to make sure this product is being sold correctly
