As a business consultant, I have a passion for helping companies "create and sustain long-term profitability" and currently sit on a non-profit board. While I do feel that the best person (knowledge, wisdom, expertise and experience)- should be chosen for a board director position, I do feel that company directors- "fall short" and select the "easy" candidates or someone from the good ole boys society. I think passing this rule- would encourage companies to broaden their search- and hopefully end up with better representation on their boards.
This rule should be focused on getting companies to complete a more comprehensive search, and selecting the most qualified candidate regardless of gender, but if this rule is what it takes to make that happen- that I fully support this rule.
