We are spending so much time on compliance, documentation, audits, paperwork, etc. that we have less and less time to actually service our clients and give them the advice they deserve. It would seem to me that it is very easy to spot an office not doing the right thing and focus your efforts in that regard. There are many, many high quality advisors doing the right thing for their clients. I would hate to think everyone would be punished for the fraudulent behavior of a few.
