It is critical that the uptick rule be fully reinstated to protect the average American who may be a retail investor or invest through mutual funds, 401K's etc. It is also critical to protect America's most critical asset - its ability to build wealth and grow an economy.
The current status of the Uptick rule has been a major factor contributing to the Depression we are experiencing and contributes to the SEC's role in creating all of the homeless camps we have in every major city in America.
