I am an individual investor who is also a finance major in college. My feelings on this matter are that the uptick rule should be reinstated. I feel that the uptick rule is a measure that adds some downside protection to individual investors. The absence of the rule can lead to a "piling on" effect when a stock starts to decline send the stock into a multi-day free fall which would not be as pronounced with the uptick rule in place. This in turn acts to hurt investor confidence in the markets. Please put the uptick rule back in place.
