I would love to know why the rule was removed to begin with? The uptick rule was meant to protect the investor. My friends and colleagues all complain that the stock market is manipulated.I believe that the SEC by removing the uptick rule has given merit to the fact that stocks can be pounded into submission and manipulated.I guess the fix was in when the SEC removed a rule that was in place for over 70 yearsA relative of mine took a tour on the floor of the stock market and was shown how things are run.His response to me was "what ever happened to investing in a good company to make money".Peoples confidence in the stock market and SEC is very low for a reason. You at the SEC can start to restore that confidence by reinstating the uptick rule.
