Obviously the uptick rule was put into effect for a reason, and equally obvious is that getting rid of the rule has been disastrous. Along with the ending of the uptick rule, the SEC's incredible lack of any action on naked short selling undoubtedly exacerbated the current financial crisis. Admit you were wrong and put the ORIGINAL rule back into effect
