Please reinstitute the uptick rule as it existed prior to its 2007 elimination. It should be obvious the elimination of the uptick rule contributed materially to the collapse of both Bear Sterns and Lehman Brothers. With the virtual elimination of pensions, the American worker's primary means for retirement preparation is the 401(k). Please return the SEC to its role of protecting the small investor.
