I would like to add my recommendation to go back to the original Uptick Rule that was in place before 2007. The Bear Raid of 2008 on Financial Institutions such as Bear Stearns,Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch,etc. would not have taken place anywhere near to tne extent it was allowed to happen if the old Uptick Rule had still been in place. It is my opinion that the old Uptick Rule would have tremendously slowed down the PANIC selling that happend in the Fall of 2008.
