You never here of stock long buyers complaining of short squeezes which drive the stock price upwards and short sellers get hurt.
If you are going to implement a rule on the downside then it is only just that a rule be implemented on the upside as well.
As an investor I play both sides of the market. Both sides need to be equal and free of manipulation.
