It is an absolute tragedy that the SEC has failed to reinstate the uptick rule. The manipulators are now resorting to the old method of using credit default swaps to create uncertainties. And after that, they pile on. The market is showing an increase in volatility. Hopefully, this bout of wealth destruction is not going to be as bad as the last one.
I doubt that investors will trust the market or the SEC again because of the SEC's failure to follow through on this important trading rule.
