Ms Schapiro speaks:
>The American people want and expect us to update the regulatory system that has failed them — and to prevent the kinds of abuses that have contributed to the economic crisis we now face.
There is no reason for the individual investor to trust an SEC that looks the other way on large scale abuses of hedge funds and the like, yet fails to reinstitute the time-tested UPTICK RULE on short sales, and to enforce across the board its own rules concerning naked short sales.
