Simply stated, short selling creates volatility.

Volatility, in turn, serves as a brake on risk-taking.

Markets need to be unassuming, and thereby cautious.

Without caution, speculative behavior overwhelms prudent behavior and incites 'bubble' like formatons.

The status quo on short-sellng should remain in force for this reason.
