I am a retired career trading professional. I am currently an op ed writer for financial newspapers, but spent the active part of my carrer as a 30-year member of the NYSE (including 5-years as a specialist), on floor contributer to CNBC,CBS Evening News,Fox TV and Bloombereg TV and Radio. Prior to my NYSE years, I was a Nasdaq Market maker in bank insurance stocks, A research salesman and an institutional block trader.
I feel very strongly that the uptick rule must be reinstated in a way that is simple, easy to understand, enforceable, fair and potent. Attached are some of my ideas that I like you to consider.
