Subject: Uptick Rule

Dear Mary Schapiro,

Thank you for considering the reinstatement of the "Uptick Rule."

What confounds me, though, is the ability for stock manipulators and speculators to use "short selling" as a means of making a short term profit.

I would hope that you would consider eliminating the ability for anyone to use "short selling" as means to "invest" in the stock market. It seems so anti-American to gamble and make money hoping to see a company fail.

Companies will fail because of poor performance. It shouldn't have the help of manipulators and speculators.

All of the above is contributing to the free fall of our economy.

If I'm wrong about all this, please let me know why short selling is good for the country.
