As an individual investor I feel that the reinstatement of the uptick rule is the necessary modicum to combat naked short selling without an outright ban on short selling (which I do not advocate). I have however viewed various instances where the lack of the "uptick" rule has appeared to negatively affect equity values of various companies I follow, particularly smaller, less liquid companies.
The reinstatement of the uptick rule is a fair, reasonable and equitable solution to a problem that we are all aware demands attention.
