Please do not cave into the witch hunt - - do not bring back the uptick rule - - do not increase spreads.
Every time there is a crisis, investment banks and floor traders take advantage of the problem by getting government to enact restrictions that put the small investor/trader at a disadvantage. I sincerely hope that the SEC does not cave in to these fear tactics this time.
The SEC's well-reasoned and gutsy jettisoning of the uptick rule was a high point in the agency's history and should be respected.
