The original Uptick Rule really needs to be put back. In October 1987 they removed the Uptick rule for 5 days, and the Stock Market crashed. They reinstated the uptick rule after 5 days, and the Market went all the way back up. All the major Brokerage firms pleaded with the SEC not to remove the Uptick rule again. So in July 2007 it was removed and the results were rather obvious. One big disaster for the whole Economy. Thanks for your consideration on these matters.
