I support the return to the Uptick Rule that the US government had for over fifty years from the Great Depression till the Bush Administration removed the uptick rule. Don't try to modify the Uptick Rule, just admit the error and restore the rule. With the Uptick rule removed, the US financial system has been harmed just like in the 1930's by short sellers. Only people who are against America and a stable finincial system, could be against restoring the Uptick Rule that has worked so well for America. Jim Cramer on CNBC correctly predicted what would happen with out the Uptick Rule. When Sen. Dodd and Rep. Frank proposed restoring the rule in early March, it signaled the beginning of the current bull market. I believe what the market says, not academics, restore the Uptick Rule.
