We need to reinstate the uptick rule regarding short selling. In recent years the government has allowed criminal behavior to go unchecked in the capital markets. We have laws that are disregarded by the SEC and the federal government. The police have been removed from the streets and the result is a collapse in the world markets. Bernie Madoff is just the tip of the iceberg.
I am angry and dismayed. My wife and I have lost thousnads of dollars we saved and invested for retirement. Colleagues and friends are unable to retire because they have lost large sums of money from their retirement accounts.
We are a nation built on laws and my government has disregarded the law for the sake of a few. It is time for the government to step up and do the job entrusted to it. Where is your fiduciary responsibility?
