I believe that if we are going to continue a "Free" market system in the U.S. then the market needs to be free. If the SEC places special rules on buying and selling then the market is not free. The SEC should worry about insider trading and accounting irregularities and let the market control itself. I think that the problem has never been that short selling has driven the market value down I believe that the market has simply adjusted itself and it would be well on it's way to having the adjustment complete if government agencies on all levels would leave it alone and let the people with money correct it naturally.
