I believe uptick rule should be reinstated to protect the real investors who put their real money for growth as the stock value increases. Those who short stocks are the gamblers and not real investors. The uptick rule will give the real investors the time to reevaluate the market rather than blindly selling the stocks as the short sellers driving the market down when there are not enough buyers. The uptick rule will allow only the real investors sell while stock prices are going down continuously before the shorters can further drive the market down. It is the previllege given to the real investors for risking their real money.
