Please reinstate the uptick rule. While shorting provides a valuable price signal in the long term, without an uptick and strict adherence to borrowing of stock, relentless short selling can drive down companies, sectors, and the whole market. Clearly, the stock market is designed to create capital, not destroy it wantonly over short term concerns.
