In retrospect, it appears as though the removal of the "uptick rule" was done at a time when the stock market was advancing at an above average rate. Therefore, I do not believe the affects of removing this rule were adequately tested. Since that time, our economy has faced many challenges, and as a result the stock market has fallen, however, I beleive that many stocks fell much farther than they otherwise would have due to the absence of this rule.
Please consider reinstating the "uptick rule". Thank you.
