I believe that short selling should be disallowed, for two reasons:
1. Speculators on the short side will sometimes spread rumors that could cause a stock to decline.
2. If a stock begins to rise in price, the shorts will sell, thereby causing an excessive amount of volume which will confuse the average investor.
