I would like to see the uptick rule reinstated as well as a rule forcing the 'purchase' of stock intended for shorting. Without these two rules the short sellers all become their own 'market makers' and have a serious advantage over the long method purchasers.
Why can't I 'manufacture' stock for long purchases?
Yes - I can buy 'on margin' but manufacturing thousands of shares to sway the momentum of price is not fair by either side of the pendulum - as I'm sure you could see with a few moments' of thought.
