Please eliminate naked short selling and restore the uptick rule in a form very close and equivalent in action and results to the "old uptick rule." As a retiree private investor counting on the stock market for a significant portion of my retirement funds, I believe this is the best way to grow capital and keep the market out of the hands of the virulent "shorts" and make the market a safe, sane place to invest.
Please give this your most serious consideration.
