Since the elimination of the uptick rule the American stock exchange has been in a terrible tale-spin. Although there are strong economic reasons for the causes for the American financial crisis there is no doubt that this current economic crisis was exacerbated by all the naked short-selling that was made possible with the elimination of the uptick rule during the summer of 2007. So I vote that the up-tick rule be reinstated.
