This is such an important ruling. One constantly hears/reads about Disparities in our society. A driver of this is the chasmic divide between top-to-bottom pay. It wasn't so in the '50s, when the ratio was c.8:1 Then, it was a type of social contract, but after the yawning gap since then, it's obvious that intervention is needed.
It's so simple and mild to have basic disclosure. Hopefully, companies will voluntarily bring things more in line with common sense. Our own retired Representative, Martin Sabo, talked/wrote about about income equities/inequities, and had a bill for same. He felt there should be a 25:1 ratio for tax deductibility. If Boards, management, etc., don't demonstrate self-control, such measures should be a next step.
