As a public employee my pay was public information available to any taxpayer who asked. A practice that continues to this day not only for state workers like myself but also for public school teachers, police and fire employees, librarians, etc. all the way down to the local level. If is absurd that the top officers of a publicly held corporation should be able to keep their pay/compensation secret from shareholders. They absolutely have a responsibility to share that information with those whose investment makes their job possible.
