This country has historically aspired to be at once a land of opportunity and also a land of truth-telling and open debate.
If we allow the ownership class to conceal the true extent of its compensation, we suppress information that is vital to public discussion about opportunity in our polity - about the freedom to realize the American dream and how to balance this freedom against the interests of the wealthiest in a capitalist democracy.
