As a citizen of the United States, I have always taken my right to vote as a sacred duty. I never miss an opportunity to learn all I can about each candidate and I vote accordingly. However, when corporations spend huge amounts of money buying advertising for a candidate, the "information" they provide is usually biased to serve their own needs. It also provides a "loud" message to the ordinary voter who may not be able to recognize said biases. Finally, it buys influence for the corporation with the candidate who may be elected. Knowing which donor is providing how much money to which candidate will help voters grasp the implications of such actions.
In order to defend and preserve our democracy, it is essential that the voters have this information and be educated as to its importance.
