Subject: Comment on File Number 4-637

February 2, 2013

Dear Members of the Securities and Exchange Commission:

I believe the SEC should require publicly traded corporations to disclose their political spending of all kinds. It is corrosive to our democracy when corporations are able to keep the public and their own shareholders in the dark. Citizens and shareholders have the right to know which candidates and policies a corporation is supporting or opposing--many times in spurious attack ads. THis kind of activity covered by a new rule should include both direct and indirect political spending, such as funneling money through other intermediaries.

Thank you for considering my comment. Please do the right thing for the American public.

Sincerely,

gladys jones
