As a registered representative I do not feel we need to be governed by a fiduciary standard. The suitability standard serves our clients well as it looks forward into their situation. Also the fiduciary standard is quite vague and does nothing to improve our client's situation.
Further, we are subject to tight regulation as it exists now as we act in the best interests of our clients.
