In many ways this is more a truth in advertising issue. If someone holds themselves out as taking on the role of looking out for someones best interest then they should be help to that standard. In investment advisory ling this is the fiduciary standard. If one does not want the role than clearly state what their role is without ambiguity. The public deserves to know what type of relationship they are about to engage in. Too many are implying they will take on the role but choose not the accept the legal and regulatory responsibility.
