I strongly encourage the SEC to require all financial advisors to perform as fiduciaries for their clients. I see many people in my practice who have been poorly served by a previous advisor who was clearly more interested in his/her welfare than that of the client. While making everyone abide by the fiduciary standard removes a marketing advantage I have over many competitors, I am more concerned with the welfare of the public than any gain I realize due to the standard differential.
