I do not support the fiduciary standard and feel it is misguided. While no system is perfect, the suitability standard that is currently used will allow middle class America to continue to have access to good financial advice. A fiduciary standard that is mostly enforced retroactively did little to protect investors that relied on advisors that were held to that standard during the recent and current financial crisis. I see no compelling reason to add the oversight and especially the regulation and expense that would accompany a fiduciary standard.
