You have the opportunity to destroy the insurance business in the United States, just as it has been destroyed in the United Kingdom. I urge you to use your power cautiously and to avoid the costly mistakes made by our cousins.
I urge you to allow insurance agents to encourage clients to act responsibly when it comes to financial security for their families, their businesses and themselves.
As a member of NAIFA for over 30 years, I have witnessed few occassions when the public has been abused in the purchase of life insurance, disability insurance, health insurance or long term care insurance by an agent/broker. Certainly the type of abuse suffered by the public in the investment world has been far more nefarious.
Please do not make it more difficult for American citizens to protect themselves against the uncertainties in life.
If you examine the decimation of the industry in the Untied Kingdom, you will see that thousands of people have lost their jobs, their livelihoods.
