As a 29 year securities veteran, Registered Principal,and Investment Advisor Affiliate, I know there are occassions when using mutual funds as opposed to an advisory account is best for the client, especially for those in the early "Accumulation Stage" of their lives. 12b1s are a good and logical way to be compensated versus fees in certain situations for, over time, ongoing service is essential to help clients attain their goals and advisors have an essential role for which they are paid.
