In the late 1990's, I discovered Long with others in the Madison, Wisconsin area that we were being defrauded by several Merrill Lynch brokers working out of the Madison Merrill Lynch.
We/I followed the chain of command only to discover that the chain of command at Merrill Lynch in Madison, Milwaukee and New York are corrupt.
The local mangers were involved with the scam.
The SEC was contacted many, many times. They are just as corrupt as Merrill Lynch and that's because this is a political problem.
Our state securities regulators are also part of the problem. Conflicts of interest so they run sham investigations or no investigations in order to protect their friends.
Talk about losing respect and trust in institutions
The Madison Merrill Lynch investigations should have been handled like the FBI crippled organized crime. You go after the bankers foibles and get the underlings to sell out the mangers. What happened in Madison was not done without the managers subtly encouraging fraud. And After all, they get a rake from all the money that comes in legally and/or illegally.
