I worked with the banking industry (TRUST) for 38 years of fiduciary guidance for investments and all actions. Included in that, is two years with the Comptroller of the Currency as a Trust Examiner.
Now I have been in the field of insurance and broker/dealer with suitability being the standard. I like this better. We must inquire before we do any investments or other products as to what the needs, wants and experience of the client may be. We check with each client at least once a year if their objectives have changed or not. These reviews plus making sure the products are suitable for each client on the front end has in my view been better for the client of know what they want and what they have.
