In many fields, the term broker implies a fiduciary duty to the customer. It would make sense, and serve the broader public, for that title to require a fiduciary duty in the area of stock brokers as well. I believe a large portion of the consumer public already thinks their stock brokers have a duty to recommend the "best" investment for them, not just a "suitable" one.
