I believe the retail sale of structured products requires more disclosure and transparency. Buyers should be made aware of the terms of the bank notes as well as the fees associated with the instruments. In my experience it is difficult to even get the term sheet when these securities are being bought on your behalf at the direction of your financial advisor. If my advisor was receiving a fee for his role in the purchase, I would have no way of knowing it.
